Welcome To Stellenbosch!

It is amazing how beautiful a place can be, especially when it is surrounded by such poverty. We flew in yesterday and saw on our way to campus the townships. The incredible poverty is just facinating, houses made of sheet metal and wood, electric lines for just some of the houses, no plumbing. And to get to Stellenbosch which is so beautiful and wealthy is hard to swallow. But it has to be taken as more of a learning experience than anything. The campus here is beautiful. We went out last night after moving into our rooms. Orientation today and for the rest of the week. My roommates, Patrick and Mike, are really great and down to earth, and everyone here is super friendly. Jillian is living in a building right next to the one that I live in and while we have been taking our own time to meet our roommates and friends, I have a feeling that after a little bit we will be seeing more of each other. Tonight is a Briee, which is just a huge barbeque pit where you bring your own meet and cook it there. Should be really fun. I'll post pictures when I get the chance to put them on the internet.
